Our Austin Healey 100/6 BN4 dates back to 1957 and is the forerunner to the very successful 3000 version (so named for its 3 litre engine). To look at the two side by side it’s easy to confuse which is which.
The 100/6 was developed to allow a few significant changes from the previous model. It was powered by a new 6 cylinder 2,639cc engine developed by Morris, giving 102 hp and a top speed of 104mph. A bonnet scoop was added to allow for a bigger radiator, and 2 small jump seats in the back were added to widen the cars appeal. At its launch, the 100/6 cost £762.
The 100 name comes from Donald Healey himself, as the car was one of the few from this period which could achieve 100mph.
Our iconic example came to us following a complete ground-up restoration and is in fabulous condition. Unusually, the side panels are burnished aluminium rather than painted, and together with the stunning Ice Blue metallic paint the car looks amazing. It’s a real driver’s car and gives a totally satisfying experience even by today’s standards.
