1963 Sunbeam Alpine
The Sunbeam series Alpine produced from 1959-68 was based on the Hillman Husky. With charming period style, good weatherproofing from the convertible top and wind up windows, and good ride quality the Alpine is an interesting alternative to the ubiquitous MGB roadster. Ours is a series 3 with the large tail fins housing interconnected fuel tanks, allowing for a large luggage space. they are a 2 seater, with a large storage area behind the seats, originally sold as a 2+2, but too small to safely sit in the rear by modern standards! With a 1592cc engine with twin carbs, four speed gearbox with overdrive, they arenít fast but are definitely fun. You may have spotted this car being used on Antiques Road Trip on the BBC when it was painted red, we have changed the colour to metallic Sand Gold (as our Mk2 Jaguar) with red interior.
